Windows 2008 CBT training is a very low cost alternative available as opposed to classroom type training programs. Organizations, whether small or big can train their employees on Microsoft’s new server operating system through windows 2008 CBT training. These days, computer based training has been found to be more effective than classroom based learning.

Microsoft Certification Training

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

I have just discovered this great thing. My brother has been telling me about how he has been doing some online IT certification training and it sounds great. It is really good to be able to get qualifications by doing courses on line. I am definitely going to have a go at it and see whether I can do some courses. I have been meaning to increase my qualifications for some time now and this will be a really good way for me to be able to balance my work and home life and still fit in some study.

I am going to wait until he finishes his Microsoft certification training as he said that he will give me all of the help that I need, as I have not done any studying for a long time. This will be great for me but I do not want to disturb him while he is still studying so I will start when he has finished and then I will not feel bad about asking him for help. I am really looking forward to it, I have never done an online course before and I think that will be a great experience in itself without getting a new qualification into the bargain.

Computer Training

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

I am starting some computer classes soon and I must admit I am a bit nervous. I have never used them much because I have always worked in jobs which do not need them. However, my local college is running some free classes and so I thought that I really ought to take up the opportunity and have a go myself. I am sure they will start us off slowly but whenever I have looked at a computer it has always seemed so complicated and I am always worried that I might break it if I go near it.

Sounds silly, perhaps to those who are confident in using them, but when you do not know what any of the buttons do, it can be extremely daunting. I am hoping that some computer training will give me enough confidence that I can talk computers a bit with my grand children and possibly even be able to play with them when they are using theirs. They do everything very fast and just assume that you know what to do, so I think that I will need to be pretty experienced to do anything alongside them. Hopefully these classes will help me out a bit and I will get some confidence with them.

Computer Training Videos

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

My company has just given me a load of computer training videos to work through. My whole team has to study at home as we are having some upgrades made to our systems and they want us to learn all about it before we switch over. I think that it is a good idea as it means that we should not be slowed down so much by the new system. Hopefully all of the team will take the time to watch them, I know it can be hard finding the time to do it, especially if you have children and things.

However, we do have a month to watch the computer training DVD and have been told that we should be able to pick up a lot just watching it once, even though they recommend we watch it a few times. I am hoping to take a look at it tonight and then if I need to see it again, because some of it is not clear, then I will have time to do that over the weekend some time. I am looking forward to it as I have never had this type of training before and I want to see whether it works for me.

Power of Online Databases

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Recent change in database technology has glorified the habit of online computing. Today the html websites are offering special web databases which can store huge data over the internet servers. These web based databases have the ability to organize and store the data over the internet. Websites developed with database web application have the ability to store the data on online server. Today, most of the businesses are looking for a kind of software which can integrate their company’s database with the company website. Using web database software can help them in integrating the website with database. This software forms a two way link with the server containing company’s database.

Web database integration server allows you to make your website user friendly. It allows you to operate everything from the server. The interlinking of web as well as database is not so easy. The company looking for designing web database applications, should employ good programmers or outsource its work to someone else for making the web database design. Good, design can allow users to search whole information over the web database itself, and reduce the work of the company. Some of the important features which an online database should have are a good server, highly secure database, online data modification ability and data access simplicity.

Marketing for mortgage

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Every field has its own strategy. The process of identifying the right customer and targeting those customers is the primary strategy of mortgage marketing. A mortgage enterprise without enough knowledge about their customers will fail for sure. It would be like a building without a foundation. To run a good mortgage marketing enterprise the ideal customers would be well educated and self employed persons. There should be trust from the sides, the customer and the enterprise.

Once a mortgage is always a mortgage suggests that the mortgagor’s right of redemption is an indefeasible right which cannot be taken away from him by any law or contact. A good mortgage marketing strategy would include dropping E mails on the customer’s inbox for every 24 hours, decreasing interest rates for larger amounts and making registrations free. Targeting home owners is a good ploy but to do that reach for the home brokers for purchased lead list and then we should work really hard to make them our customers. Mortgage marketing refinancing is nothing but just a replacement of an old loan by a new one after paying off the exiting loan. There are several reasons why the customers go for refinancing among them.

iPhone apps round-up: Future Apps roles out speech-based translators

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

When you’re trying to pick up the nuances of a different language, it’s one thing to see how a phrase translates from English to another tongue, but it’s quite another to hear how to pronounce something properly. That’s the idea behind Future Apps’ newly released line of iSpeak translation-language learning tools for the iPhone and iPod touch.

The apps, built in conjunction with speech specialists Acapela Group, feature a text translator to convert English phrases into other languages. But there’s also a text-to-speech feature, which pronounces the translated phrase in the targeted language.

The iSpeak apps come in eight languages: Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish. Each app costs $2. Future Apps says it plans to offer other languages soon.

Because of the text-to-speech feature, each iSpeak app is a pretty large download for an iPhone offering. Apps range in size from 80.5MB for iSpeak French to 182MB for iSpeak Swedish.

Other apps of interest that were recently updated or added to the App Store include:

Google Earth users can dive in the sea, fly to Mars

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Google Inc has updated its online map of the world to add the more than two- thirds of the planet that lies underwater and provide a way to view changes to glaciers and other geography over time.

The new edition of Google Earth, unveiled in San Francisco on Monday with an appearance by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, was trumpeted as a powerful way to raise awareness about environmental issues such as global warming.

Using photographs and video of fish and other marine life from partners including the National Geographic Society, Google Ocean allows Web surfers to dive under waves and glide over the sea floor.

It was touted as the latest fruit of Google’s freewheeling research culture, even as questions swirl about the company’s commitment to funding projects that do not contribute to the bottom line right away.

John Hanke, director of Google Earth and Maps, said Google Ocean is less focused on creating immediate revenue than helping to “build support for our perception as a leader.”

The opportunities to generate revenue from Google Earth will come later, he added.

Google said last week its sales in the fourth quarter rose 18 percent year-over-year to $5.7 billion, even as the U.S. economic recession and slowing advertising spending stunted growth at rivals such as Yahoo Inc.

In developing Google Ocean, the company used sonar data from the U.S. Navy, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association and others to create a visual representation of the topographic landscape hidden beneath the sea.

Google, headquartered in Mountain View, California, also unveiled a three-dimensional map of Mars on Monday based on satellite images, as well as panoramic photos taken from the Mars Rovers.

And a new “timeline” feature on Google Earth allows a person to view a succession of satellite images of the same location over the years, tracking changes to the environment.

Vice President of Search Products Marissa Mayer said the new Google Earth features are a validation of the company’s famous 20 percent program, which allows engineers to devote one-fifth of their time to pet projects that may or may not eventually become full-fledged Google products.

“We think some of the most interesting and innovative work we do comes though bottom’s up initiatives,” Mayer said.

Google has pulled the plug on some experimental projects in recent months, prompting questions about whether the company will continue to give its engineers the same free rein in a tough economy.

In 2008, Google spent roughly $2.8 billion on research and development, or 12.8 percent of total revenue.

Hanke said the company may be taking a closer look at projects that occupy more than 20 percent of a worker’s time, but he noted the new Ocean feature was created by very few people and is “invaluable” to the company.Google shares closed up 0.6 percent at $340.57 on the Nasdaq on Monday.

Try your skill at landing a plane on Hudson River

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

First came the heroics of landing a crippled passenger jet on the Hudson River in New York City. Now there are the video games.

“Hero on the Hudson” challenges players to steady a plane nosediving toward the busy river. In “Double Bird Strike,” the goal is to evade flocks of birds — a suspected cause of the US Airways jet’s near disaster on January 15.

Both are free online games created by units of MTV Networks, a division of Viacom Inc. Free games, which make money by selling advertising, are seen as a promising segment of the $22 billion U.S. video game industry.

Players can try to emulate the skill of pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, who won acclaim for his smooth emergency landing on the Hudson River that saved all 155 people aboard.

“Hero on the Hudson” has been played more than 1.4 million times since it was launched on January 21, said Kate Connally, spokeswoman for its creator AddictingGames. Average success takes three tries.

“If you land it correctly like the pilot did, then the passengers come out and cheer on the wing,” she said. “The payoff is the joy of having saved all the passengers.”

The plane sinks with burbling sounds if you fail.

“Double Bird Strike,” which launched on January 18, may be trickier. Scott Roesch, general manager of creator atom.com, said it took him at least a dozen tries to succeed.

“The decision to launch the project was made within 24 hours. It really is a story of heroism,” Roesch said. “The more we started to think about, the thing that the plane was hit by birds was amazing.”

Among those conducting 147,000 tries on “Double Bird Strike,” he said, are mothers at home. Before playing the game, viewers must watch a laundry detergent commercial featuring models on a catwalk.

In the 2008 election year, politics mixed with online gaming.

Several of the most popular games, Roesch and Connally said, featured Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the outdoorsy governor of Alaska. “Hunting with Palin” by atom.com drew more than 1.6 million tries.
