Choose the Right Aviation Headsets

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

I have been considering looking at some avcomm aviation headsets to replace the one I have already. I am really happy with what I have so there is no need to really change it but I have heard s many good things about the Avcomm range that I am tempted to get one to try to see whether the things I am hearing are right. To be honest I cannot imagine that anything could beat my David Clark h10 but until I try I really will not know. I was going to borrow one that my friend has but he is very protective about his things and so I think that perhaps that will not work. Maybe I will just have to take a look at buying one after all.

I have been looking through the range and the Avcomm 200 seems like a good idea as to me it seems like it is the best value for money. I suppose it depends exactly what you are looking for but it has all the features that I want. I am just not sure whether I can justify the cost of buying it just to try it out and find out what it is like.

Tips for Low Noise Duct Cleaning

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Ducts are generally used in HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems. These ducts consist of central ventilation which is made of steel and an outlet made of aluminum or other materials. These ducts have the ability to supply air, exhaust air and return air. These ducts are used to ensure that indoor air quality is good and thermal equilibrium is maintained. The duct system, which is used for HVAC is called as duct work. Duct design plays an important role in HVAC systems. This design comprises of planning, optimizing, sizing, detailing and finding the pressure losses in duct system.

A duct system should be maintained perfectly to ensure that the air flow inside the building is proper. The air coming out of the duct system is generally powerful and emits a loud noise. Duct sound attenuators are special sound reducing equipment, which can be used along with duct systems.

These attenuators have the ability to compress noise and let out the air with silence. Although ducts are said to be individual items, these ducts use some special components like vibration isolators, take offs, volume control dampers, stacks heads and boots, air terminals and sound enclosures. All these components have their own functionality. Ducts are generally noisy, so they are covered with attenuators for reducing noise level. HVAC sound enclosures are systems that reduce noise pollution and have the ability to absorb unwanted sound generated from those sources.

Sony seeks to harmonize music, electronics

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Now that Sony Corp. and Bertelsmann AG have broken off their troubled relationship, known as Sony BMG, the Japanese company hopes to harmonize its consumer electronics and its music, a duo that was badly out of sync.

The music business combination four years ago made Sony BMG the world’s No. 2 record label, generating savings and pre-empting other industry consolidation. But the venture’s cost-cutting didn’t keep pace with falling CD sales, and the two companies’ digital strategies didn’t jibe.

So they called it quits, and Sony bought out its partner for $900 million in a deal that closed Oct. 1.

Selling its 50 percent stake will let Bertelsmann refocus on its growing TV, magazines and book publishing businesses. And full ownership of the music venture gives Sony control of a medium it can use to drive electronics sales, just as it is using wholly owned Sony Pictures to help sell the Bravia line of TVs. The new company is called Sony Music Entertainment Inc.

“It’s nice to see Sony at least trying to line up some of their content efforts with their hardware,” said Michael Gartenberg, vice president of global strategy for Jupiter Media. “Up until now, the left hand never seemed to know what the right hand was doing.”

The music venture was so dissonant, it often helped Sony competitors.

In one case, Bertelsmann insisted the venture shop music videos to Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 instead of Sony’s PlayStation 3 gaming unit “to make sure it’s a fair deal” for Bertelsmann, said a Sony executive who asked not to be identified because those negotiations were private.

As a result, PlayStation 3 customers have to do without music videos from Sony BMG.

In another case, Sony BMG was the last major record label to join the PlayNow Arena online music store from Sony Ericsson — Sony’s own mobile phone venture. PlayNow launched in August in Scandinavia.

“(Sony BMG) has been by far the toughest agreement to get in place,” said Victor Fredell, Sony Ericsson’s content acquisition manager of music.

Fredell blamed the 50-50 ownership of Sony BMG, which meant neither company had a clear upper hand.

“They were just different in their approach to the business,” said Jay Cooper, a music attorney who represents Sheryl Crow and other artists. “I think they managed to put together a strong company but unfortunately they had two different kinds of philosophies.”

In contrast, Sony easily made “Hancock” from Sony Pictures available via the Internet for Bravia TVs for just $9.99 before the DVD release. The idea is that such exclusive offers — this one includes a Blu-ray disc — will boost sales of Bravias and the $299.99 Internet modules made by Sony Electronics.

Sony already this month has moved to streamline the music group, merging two labels that had been run separately by Bertelsmann and Sony.

Next, the Sony executive said, will be a push to better integrate Sony music with Sony Ericsson mobile phones, which had a paltry 8 percent market share in the second quarter.

Even Apple Inc. has yet to perfect the mobile phone music business: Its iPhones can’t directly download iTunes music, for instance.

“This is their opportunity to find some way to challenge Apple in a space that they don’t completely own yet,” said Jupiter’s Gartenberg.

Whether Sony can succeed is an open question.

Next Thursday, Nokia Corp. launches its much heralded “Comes With Music” venture in Britain, a service for which a year of free downloads comes with the purchase of a phone. Prepaid models start at about $229.

Whether any mobile music offerings gain traction depends a great deal on fickle consumer tastes — for Nokia’s all-you-can-eat system, or Sony’s and others’ pay-as-you-go regime.

“And then you have to assume that people want music on their phones,” said Russ Crupnick, a digital music analyst for NPD Group. “I think the jury’s still out on that.”

Last year, the entire music market — measured by album sales, or the number of tracks divided by 10 — shrank nearly 10 percent, and it is down about 5.4 percent so far this year. All the labels, including leader Universal Music Group, Sony, third-place Warner Music Group Corp. and EMI Group PLC, are making more music available cheaply on a wider array of platforms and devices, in the hopes digital downloads will push the needle the other way again.

And that digital strategy matters more for Sony than for most, since it is close to slipping to No. 3.

Its share of the U.S. music market is now 22.8 percent, down from 28.5 percent in 2004, according to Nielsen SoundScan, while Warner’s rose to 21.1 percent from 14.7 percent.

Cell phone can unlock car, start engine

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

A new Japanese mobile phone will automatically unlock the doors of its owners’ cars and let drivers start their engines without using an ignition key.

The phone, built by Sharp Corp., uses a technology previously developed by Nissan Motor Co. called “Intelligent Key” that allows drivers enter and start their cars without removing their keys from their pockets or bags.

Cars equipped with the system sense when the correct key is nearby, automatically unlocking their car doors, and allow the engine to be started once the key is brought inside the car. Nissan said it has shipped about a million cars with the technology in Japan since 2002.

The new twist on this technology is that it is loaded in a phone. The service will work on the mobile network operated by NTT DoCoMo Inc., Japan’s largest mobile operator.

The companies said in a joint press release Wednesday they will display the technology next week at CEATEC, a major technology conference in Tokyo. They are continuing development and aim to bring the phone to market sometime after March of next year.

Japanese phones are some of the most sophisticated in the world; most come standard with digital TV, music players, GPS, cameras that double as barcode scanners, and wireless credit cards.

Marine Gadgets to Help You with Your Undersea Adventures

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Marine gadgets are becoming more and more popular nowadays mainly because of their great use in the fields of military tactics, marine trade and business, as well as in hobbies and leisure. Thus here are two of the most wanted modern marine devices people have learned to love:

Marine GPS Systems - Marine GPS systems are tracking devices used to detect the terrains and activities happening underwater. Like the regular GPS systems used in mapping geographic areas, these gadgets likewise do the same thing-only that they work under the sea. These GPS systems can track entities such as underwater vessels, sunken ships and even the presence of sea creatures, thus they become useful both as a fishing device as well as a military tactical gadget.

Bushnell Scopes - One of the most important abilities you must possess underwater is clear vision, and to help you have a clear and precise view of underwater activities is a Bushnell scope. Bushnell is the trusted name in the field of outdoor viewing devices such as telescopes and binoculars, and their scopes are known to work under the sea as well.

These two marine gadgets probably fulfill the needs of someone who specializes in boating and marine electronics, but they also satisfy even the desires of anybody who loves to take a dive. Thus it’s a must that you get these devices, or else your sea explorations will never be complete.

Why aren’t they donating money towards climate change?
Further more, Companies such as Kodak, Sony , Panasonic , LG, ETC. that make electrical devices should start making them Eco-friendly e.g Televisions with minimal consumption p/Hour

If there were customers to buy those eco-friendly devices, they would be on the store shelves. Big companies, like Kodak, LG, ect. get big and rich by selling things that people want to buy.

If you think they are making a lot of profit, buy their stock and get in on the profits. It is not for the businesses to make charitable contributions; that would be unethical and the executives should be sued and removed for doing it. They are charged with the responsibility of making profits for shareholders. If the shareholders want to make charitable contributions, they are welcome to do so from the part of the profits that are distributed to them.

If you think the profits of large companies should be give to charities, buy the stock, own the companies, give your profits to charity.

I am trying to find the best way to hook all this up. I bought a 1 to 3 HDMI switch. The only thing that I cannot figure out is how I get the sound from the PS3/Blue Ray movies to come out of my surround sound speakers. I do not have an HDMI on my DVD/Receiver, but I have an optical connection on the PS3, the receiver and the TV. Any help would be great.

Hook up the HDMI cables from the Cable Box and PS3 into the switcher then into the TV’s HDMI input. Plug the DVD into the TV using standard cables.

Then take an optical cable from the tv into the Reciever, then make sure your reciever knows that the sound is coming from optical port.

The best way is to buy a HDMI switching receiver ( has 3 HDMI input ) , you also get some new HD sound formats from Blu-ray movies. It costs you around $400.
